For the older students I love to help get them into bands and open jams so they can experience playing live in front of a crowd and with other musicians. I love teaching and playing all styles of music from Jazz, Metal, Rock, Latin, Rap, Reggae, etc. When I'm not teaching I am traveling with various bands around the country and playing on major music festivals. Previously mentioned, depending on the individual student, my methods and concepts will change. In teaching i have found there is NOT a "perfect way to teach" or "right way". People are different and everyone learns differently and at different paces, so the style of teaching has to change from student to student. However, the biggest principal i have seen in teaching lessons, is if the teacher believes in the student, and the student knows it, results will sky rocket and the student will do anything for that teacher. For students I will show other people around their age playing the drums and after that I will show them the fundamentals of making a beat and staying on beat. Once students have the fundamentals together then we would play songs that they like and find interesting in and we would play those songs by ear. No matter what level they are in.
