During my time as an undergrad student I taught percussion and basic piano lessons in the local area. Since leaving school in 2014 I have continued my music education and focused on teaching young children both group and individual. I have always loved music. I write and create music everyday. When I graduated high school I earned a band scholarship which allowed me to play in many different genres of music. I played in Big Jazz bands, Small Jazz combos, and pit orchestras. I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus.
