In my lessons I use snare drum method books such as Mitchell Peters Intermediate Book or Stick Control by George Stone to teach reading and basic hand technique.  Once I feel the student is proficient in reading and technique I move on to drumset coordination books as well as learning drum parts to the students favorite music.  I also teach techniques for xylophone, tympani and other classical percussion instruments.  I have an extensive library of music books and techniques so if one method doesn't work I have no problem customizing my lesson plan to fit the student's need. In initially meeting a student, I ask many questions in order to gage what has inspired the student to study drums, and what particular genres of music and/or artists have brought them to the point of lesson inquiry. I'm a professional musician who enjoys working with students and passing along my knowledge of the arts. In 2013 I graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance and a Jazz Studies Certificate. During the summer of 2013, I attended New York University's Broadway Percussion Seminar and took private lessons on Timpani and sight reading.
