I have had a lot of teachers in my life and I learned a lot from every one of them not only about playing, but also about delivering information. At 14, Will had his first paying professional gig playing a production of Little Shop of Horrors in SE Michigan, where a community theater scene provided work and experience leading up to studying at the LA Music Academy in 2007. Will spent the next several years in Austin, TX and Los Angeles, CA working as a drummer playing many styles of music including top 40, jazz, funk, rock roll, country, etc. It's this real world playing experience that Will utilizes in teaching and passing on knowledge as well preparing students for a potential career as a musician. I draw attention to the importance of listening and help the student identify what to listen for. There is nothing more frustrating than practicing a particular fill 1000 times, only to later realize you've been practicing it incorrectly. This is very common among drummers young and old, but is easily dealt with by simply cultivating a sense of listening and apt imitation. However, I do not endorse perfectionism as a means of effective learning either, and I also will remind the student of the fact that sometimes when you're jamming, even if what what you're playing is not perfect, it's "good enough for rock and roll." This is part of the attitude of rock and roll that I feel is conducive to better, faster learning: a willingness to make mistakes, acknowledge them, learn from them, and move on. Read More

I actually wrote my own drumming method that I finished a year ago. I use it as a support to give custom exercises to the students, it covers all kind of music, and has provided great results so far. I am comfortable playing jazz styles as well as more rock oriented styles on the drum set. I have been playing piano for years and have a strong background in music theory which allows me to teach sight reading and theory on piano. I am comfortable teaching piano out of my apartment (I have a Casio CDP-130 keyboard), or coming to you. I make an effort to get to know my students goals and current ability on their instrument so that I can play to their strengths and improve their weaknesses. Read More

I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs and desires. I encourage all of them to develop reading, listening, coordination, and concentrating skills. I help each student to have the ability to play many different music styles and improvise in those styles. We work with developing the ear in order to play along with recorded music and teach them how to transcribe the songs so that they can document it for future use. Read More
