I am an active performer and educator in the NYC area. I graduated Cum Lade from The City College of NY and received a Bachelors degree of fine arts in Jazz performance. I love sharing my enthusiasm for life and music and teaching is my way to give back to future generations who will shape society and culture. I have been fortunate to travel the world playing music in places like Denmark, Finland, Cape Verde, Colombia and all over the United States in places like The Kennedy Center, Millennium Stage in Chicago and the Lincoln Center just to name a few. With my educational background and passion for music it would be difficult to find another instructor with more depth.I have taught guitar for over 20 years to students ranging in ages from 6-60. I have performed with and coached multiple bands, ensembles, soloists, and private students and I have loved every minute of it. In my experience I have found that, with the right instructor, exploring a wonderfully dense topic such as music heightens discipline, motivation, focus, confidence, and sensitivity. Read More

I began teaching when I was in high school, working with an organization in my local community that provided affordable lessons to those who can not afford the high prices of private music instruction. I continued teaching privately during college, and began working in classroom settings the past three years. My experience with directing ensembles, as well as teaching private lessons, has led me to develop a strong curriculum that provides students with meaningful and relevant experiences. Read More

I'm a versatile drummer/percussionist who loves teaching and sharing knowledge about music and arts in general. Graduated from Berklee College of Music with a full scholarship I've been performing and recording around the U.S for the last 4 years. Performances has always been my principal interest but currently I'm deeply involved with teaching because I have been developing a new way of learning instruments based on a more conscious state of mind involving meditation, all this thanks to my studies in Qi-Gong (Chinese Art of Movement) Read More

To me, the student's journey ALWAYS comes first, and I believe that is why I have been able to have been teaching for 20 years. Most of my students stay with me for up to 11 years as I teach them how to speak music fluently by studying several genres and perhaps multiple instruments. I am extremely passionate about each of my students, being very diligent to 'see' the individual for who they are, sculpt and carve a very unique custom path to success on their instrument. Read More

As a Brubeck Fellow, he received ensemble coaching from mentors Dave Brubeck, Joe Gilman, Fred Hersch, Robert Glasper, Bob Hurst, Christian McBride, Jeff Tain Watts, Eric Harland, Freddie Hubbard, Nicholas Payton, Miguel Zenon and Joshua Redman. The Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet was selected as the 2007 Down Beat Magazine best college ensemble. Cory credits the Brubeck institute as one the most insightful musical experiences. After completing the two-year fellowship program, Cory moved to NYC to finish his undergrad studies at the New School University. Read More

Furthermore, the reason why I want to be an educator lies in my fundamental belief in the potential of every student. While I eventually became a high performing student, for a number of years I underperformed and had to deal with other peoples notions about my capacity to succeed. To see the dramatic turn I took with academics motivates me to set the same example for other students who may once be in the same position I was. Read More
