I was playing live music almost six nights a week, and started helping out as an assistent at Tipitina's Sunday Workshop for young musicians. I began teaching as soon as I could. My dad held piano lessons out of our house and inspired me to teach guitar (the only instrument my dad wasn't terribly good at). I also taught trumpet, French horn and piano throughout high school. There are many different ways to teach. Som of my methods are as follows. 1- Freestyle. Feeling a certain rythm and figuring out how and what to play as far as that genre goes. 2- Feel. Understanding the undertone of music and how it should be felt by a listener or an audience. 3- Placement. This is the art of putting different little embelishments, in music, and in songs. Parents will recieve a professional audio recoding of each lesson so they can hear what their child is working on.
