I was born in Ukraine in 1977. At the age of 18 I was introduced to one of the"jazz guitar greats" who taught me theory and improvisation. Those lessons lit a fire inside me that has only grown stronger with time.I founded the band, Shykina, in 1997 and toured Europe for the next 6 years, releasing 3 albums. Once students are acclimated to how lessons work (and sure they want to continue) I encourage them to purchase the book(s) we are working out of. I try to work out of books for reading, but most other learning I like to take on personally. Books are great for learning and seeing new material, but they don't do much for a performance, writing parts or learning songs. Read More

Inspiration and the joy of playing is first and foremost with my approach.
