For beginners, I try to keep thing informal and fun while teaching basics without putting any pressure to get into the technical stuff like hand technique and reading until they're ready. I first taught about 45 years ago when I was a teenager. Since then I have been helping people learn more about playing music on both a casual and professional basis. I strive to discover where the student is and what they want to accomplish. I also train students in Music Theory, reading and transcription because it is important that musicians are able to communicate with other players clearly. I have several years of experience in both concert and marching percussion, playing in the LMEA All State Band in high school and marching at the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 and 2022.
