I fell in love with playing music when I was handed a flute by my teacher in the sixth grade.  Twice I marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Great American Marching Band. In High School I played a concerto on flute with the string orchestra and had the opportunity to conduct the concert band.  Since then I have had the opportunity to play with various ensembles at Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. I graduated Brooklyn College in 2014 and am looking forward to passing on my love of music to others. For beginning students, I prefer to start them on a book based in warming up and getting used to movement in hands if we are playing piano. Throughout my teaching, I incorporate music theory and ear training into my classes as it creates a fantastic bridge to understanding the instrument. Navarro is a part of the liberation-oriented free jazz collective, Irreversible Entanglements. After their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album on International Anthem, a second album is due to be released in 2020. Navarro also has a duo project with Brooklyn-based drummer Tcheser Holmes. I will never give a student an assignment that I am not confident that they can complete before the next lesson.
