I have taught woodwind lessons to middle schoolers and high schoolers. Several of my students have made honor bands, placed first chair, and advanced to All-State. For beginners, I like to start with the Rubank method books, which progress pretty rapidly. I also focus on tone production and scales as we move along at the level of the individual student. I gauge the speed at which we move based on the student in question, and prepare a practice routine for each student based on how much time they have to practice each day. For an intermediate to advanced student, I work with more the more advanced Rubank method books, and suggest solo literature appropriate for them to prepare. Read More

My teaching experience started in my senior year of high school. I have taught a variety of ages and levels. From 5th grade to 12th grade I enjoyed all of them! I love to watch my students grow as they take to improve on technique, tone and etc. I give students homework to practice and encourage regular practicing. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
