I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album. I began teaching private lessons eight years ago during college. By the end of 2015 I had a studio of over 30 students. I tend to focus on developing a student's sound concept first, so that they can get a beautiful sound out of the instrument at an early age. I also encourage students to play ear-training games and develop an independent melodic sensibility early on. I talk to each student about their hopes and expectations regarding lesson structure and career plans as well as their personal struggles with and without the instrument. Critique is a necessary part of this field, but I try to state things as objectively as possible and use discretion as necessary.
