I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. Often I will ask my students to listen to the song that they are working on or watch the movie or tv show it comes from because it is important to hear and see the bigger picture. Read More

I'm a San Francisco-based clarinetist, composer, and writer seeking to share my passion and training with students of all backgrounds, ability levels, and musical goals. I have learned from some of the finest players on the planet-- members of the San Francisco, Houston, Jacksonville, and Seattle Symphonies, as well as the New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras. I have a decade of experience encompassing every role available to a classical musician, as an orchestral musician, chamber player, and soloist of both classic and contemporary repertoire. Read More
Instruments: Piano Clarinet
I teach all styles of music. I begin teaching from piano books published by Alfred. I also have the student learn their scales as well as give a weekly written music theory assignment. I incorporate styles and songs the student enjoys listening to or playing as well. I like to teach classical music. With this foundation, ALL other music is much easier to play, and helps tremendously with their sight reading skills. Read More

As I got older and discovered that music was the thing I most wanted to do in this life, teaching voice and piano became the vehicle I needed to keep doing music as well as help people, like I wanted. In training my voice classically, I had the very best instructor who taught me how to sing the healthy way. Read More

Once the student is finished with these books, the student is now ready for the intermediate and advanced books by Trevor Wye. It is a set of 5 books that focuses on each aspect of the flute, such as tone and technique. Read More

I've blended my methods with a response to each student I work with by requesting their trust, listening to their places of comfort and interest in playing music, and discovering new avenues of development with the student. I encourage them to draw from those areas in our sessions as we develop our repertoire and enhance individual growth from there. For beginners I tend to start with either Standard of Excellence books or Rubank and build custom practices from there. Read More
