I encourage the individual to find what they love about what they're doing to spark growth and personal development. I use real world scenarios and applications for my students to relate and apply their learning through the playing of their instrument. From my pedagogical teachings ive learned that the best approach is a differentiated one. One that is diverse yet unique to the learner and/ or group of learners. I use a linguistic and analytical yet methodological approach to teaching that I find to be VERY Efficient! Read More

Ever since high school, I have enjoyed teaching other students. In college, I would travel to nearby schools to tutor middle and high school instrumental students. My first job out of college was teaching at a charter school where I saw all the students in the school for 9 week periods. We established an after school band where private lessons were the main form of growth. In my next job, I taught students from beginning, in sixth grade, through their senior year of high school. Teaching music is a very rewarding experience. Its often nice to see a student to be able to open their eyes and understand the music concept. Every child is different. I like to let each student to progress at their own pace. Patience is the key here when learning to play a new music instrument. I am very flexible and layback. Students enjoying playing their instrument and enloying their lessons is more important than being able to master a piece of music. Read More

Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes. Classes are also available for older beginners interested in learning classical or other styles. Read More

My teaching experience began in high school where, as a junior, I began teaching middle school saxophone players. As I went through high school I began to realize that I had a knack for teaching young players one-on-one as opposed to a large classroom, this is what inspired me to study music performance as opposed to music education. When I moved to Kennesaw to change majors from Classical to Jazz Saxophone Performance, I realized how fortunate I was to now know how to teach both classical and jazz genres of my instrument.
