I had a very unique opportunity to be mentored by the legendary drummer/bandleader/NEA Jazz Master Chico Hamilton. I spent a lot of time with him on and off the stage. Every student is different. I tailor my teaching style to fit the needs of and goals of each individual student musician. Beginning students, especially children, need more guidance and structure to the lessons to get started, but its still important to keep them interested , engaged and having fun, so Ill typically integrate lessons on basic technique with songs that children already know. For intermediate and advanced students I tend to take a more flexible approach, paying special attention to what the student wants to get out of the lessons. Read More

Every student is different, that means that they all learn in different ways. I always love to find creative teaching ideas to tailor my instructions for every student. I like being organized and keep track of each student progress. Every lesson I try to keep the student inspired by playing with them, showing them recordings I like and setting goals. I encourage my students to enter competitions, I believe its great to have a realistic goal to prepare for. Read More

Make the same mistake repeatedly, you're doing it wrong). Read More
