My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church. My goal is to teach my students to be musicians, and for them to walk away every week with a deeper appreciation for music. I believe in nurturing all my students' creativity while challenging their skills to help them achieve their goals. I continuously acknowledge their achievements, but will remind them of what needs improvement. My students are given multiple opportunities to perform as a soloist or as part of a small ensemble in recitals throughout the year. Read More

I'm a passionate musician, with a deep knowledge of many styles of music. I am equally motivated to help my students find success on the saxophone or clarinet, whatever their goals are. I have had the great fortune to play music on 4 continents, and recently played my first show (of hopefully more!) at the House of Blues in Boston, to a sold-out crowd. I have taken hundreds of lessons over the years from masters such as Dave Liebman, Gary Smulyan, and Lynn Klock. Read More

I like listening to the student and determining where their skill level best would fit in with my curriculum. From there, I will formulate a lesson plan that will not only have the student steadily progressing through the lesson material by using instrumental method books that encourage growth at their current skill level, but I will also introduce solo repertoire materials that help the student establish themselves as an individual musical creator and artist! I strive for clarity, focus, and direction in my teaching without stifling the student's own creativity. My lessons prove to be demanding, but calm and constructive. I ensure that students understand the topics discussed, and do not proceed beyond until they obtain a genuine grasp and internalization. The time for which it takes different students to process a new concept varies greatly. As such, I pace lessons based upon each individual student. Read More

This is why I try to not ignore the deeper, more holistic aspects of the art, which is why I emphasize composition in my lessons. I will compose for my students pieces that highlight something they are working on, but I will also assign compositions for my students because kids love it and creativity yields a deeper connection to any given subject than, say, rote memorization. I love kids and do not stifle their creativity, without steering too far away from the task at hand, I like to listen to what they have to say because you never know what valuable information you may learn about their present perspective. I was studying Electrical Engineering for two years at Tufts University before I decided to take a leap and follow my passion of music. It has been an incredible journey ever since! I have had the oppurtunity to play a wide variety of musical styles including rock jam-band, folk trio, jazz ensembles, latin jazz, chamber music, solo, duo, avante-garde, electronic, and many more. No matter what the situation, I always love to play, create, and share music with others. Read More
