I opened my clarinet studio while in college. Over the next decade, my studio grew to over 40 students. It was a diverse studio with clarinetists of all levels and ages! It is really fulfilling for me to see my students use the knowledge they gain from my instructions to improve their playing level. Effective practice habits are agreed upon between myself and each student. Goals cannot be achieved without effective practice habits. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations. Im a multi faceted musician with particular expertise and passion for jazz. I am an HBCU graduate and am proud of it. I recently completed my masters in Jazz Studies at the University of Arkansas at Monticello on full scholarship as a teaching assistant. I consider myself up and coming in the music world and have been blessed to have unique experiences as a performer and leader such as playing at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago or being a section leader in the Marching Wildcats of B-CU. I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, RB, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles. I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. I like to remain fluid with respect to my style. I want to know what the student is trying to accomplish and then find the path that motivates them the best. Their unique path will be a plan with proven techniques using a developed system based upon my experience of success. During the lesson, I want every student to understand the why behind the request.
