I use humor and my own experiences to first establish a caring environment in which the student can be comfortable. Once that connection is established, I like to find out the students interests and make sure a personal goal is set that we can achieve together. There has to be something exciting the student can achieve in order to develop self-motivation. I employ a number of tactics to stimulate self-expression and problem solving skills, as independent work and practice is crucial in any musician's journey. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and exploring music together. I graduated from Soai University in Osaka in 2016. I had been developing my career as a freelance musician since I graduated and gained various professional musical experience including playing with Osaka Philharmonic and Okayama Philharmonic. In 2021, I came to U.S., and I just earned my Master's Degree in Orchestra Studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where I studied the clarinet under Prof. Read More

I have been consistently teaching students since I was in high school back in the early 90's. I always love teaching people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities because it makes it more interesting for me! I have taught elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult music lessons and will have no trouble taking you where you need to go musically if you choose to take lessons with me. I allow the student some individuality here - what kind of music would they like to play? Read More

I have been teaching formally for the past 17 years in university, high school, and community music school settings. I have taught students at all levels of ability from highly diverse cultural backgrounds. The most exciting moment for me is when a student catches on to a new concept and overcomes a fear or limitation. I try to incorporate each student's outside interests into the study of music, relating everything from computer science, history, skateboarding, you-name-it to the practice of music. Read More

The approach, overall, is to drive toward the student's goal. When someone wants to learn how to play an instrument well enough to play in a band or orchestra, I usually consider two needs - playing music and interpreting written music. These are basic parts of education, literally easy to define by achieving pages in etude books. In addition, though, there is a third component to meeting the set goal: writing music - a sensibility that you can create. Read More
