I am goofy kind of gal who is a kid at heart so, while I do not allow the students to goof-off during practice, I definitely encourage the children to have fun and take breaks. Learning a new skill is taxing on the brain so I do enjoy inserting some brain-breaks here and there, when necessary. I'm also a very big sticker advocate! In my last semester at Butler, I student taught at Avon High School for band and Franklin Township Middle School East for choir. Responsibilities at the former included sole direction of Concert Percussion, intermediate Symphonic Band, and AP Music Theory, and at the latter 7th Grade General Music and 8th Grade Mixed Choir. I have been invited to help coach over 20 bands in the Osaka area, many times helping them reach gold medals at competitions such as the All-Japan Band Competition. I enjoyed being part of many musical ensembles (including the Supertonic Orchestra in Dublin and Anashim in Poland) and went on to found the klezmer music ensemble ‘Klezmerado’. I performed playing the clarinet with this group at over 100 concerts all throughout Poland. Additionally, I have taken part in several musical projects across Europe aimed at bringing professional music to children. Not only do I have extensive experience playing as part of orchestras and ensembles, but I also pursued music pedagogy, and during my many years of teaching instrumental music, I was able to further develop my own skill as a performance musician.
