I've been teaching privately for about 15 years, starting when I was a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Since that time, I've taught students on Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet at all levels, from beginners all the way to advanced players in high school. My focus as an undergraduate was in jazz performance, and I love to teach about jazz techniques, beginning to advanced improvisation, and group dynamics. Each person is unique which transfers to a different learning technque for each student. I firmly believe in making sure each student learns at his or her own pace. If my student is having difficulty learning something new, I will ensure the student understands the lesson a different way i.e. singing a piece, clapping the rhythm, drawing pictures... etc. No matter the lesson, each student will have fun and exceed in accomplishing their goals. I teach music, not just instruments. I try to develop a broad appreciation for music that will stay with my students wherever they go in life. I take an individualized approach based on learning styles and strengths. I believe in positive reinforcement, especially with younger students! As a product of "the system", I generally teach "the system". By that I mean that in the education system here in Texas has been teaching this same way for years and years. After a year or two learning the fundamentals, scales and phrasing, then one gets to study the Ferling etudes for region band and a few basic solos for solo and ensemble. For beginners, I focus on teaching proper fundamentals for embouchure, air, hand position, and articulation. I use various teaching tools such as Essential Elements or whatever book your child's school district requires. I believe teaching music literacy is very important. The goal the first year is to be able to read a majority of the notes and rhythms on their instrument while being able to play at least 7 major scales and a two octave chromatic scale. Read More

I have been playing clarinet for 12 years and very passionate and motivated by music. I love working and sharing my knowledge with students. I have graduated from Florida State University with a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance May 2020. I have performed in Mexico, Belgium, and around the United States.
