The student has to develop in their own phase. My primary role is to inspire and motivate to student, to set goals for them selves, and help them to reach their desired goals. But most importantly having fun with music, each student has an individual way of learning, my goal is to find what inspire them and go deeper into that. We'll listen to a lot of examples of music and we'll play a lot together, my lessons are hands on, learning by playing, this includes leaning songs and look at them from different perspectives; listening, rhythmical, melodically, theoretical, looking at scales sound and rhythm. In my previous teaching I have a very sound based approach. Everything will be easier and more fun if we can produce a good sound and tone out of the instrument. I have used this method in all of my previous students and found their niche to what they need to make lessons and their playing more enjoyable. We work at the students pace and make sure they are always ready to move on. Read More

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic instructor and performer. Music has always been a positive influence on my life; I hope to foster the same lifelong love of music in my students! I hold a Masters degree from Manhattan School of Music in clarinet performance and a Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland, also in clarinet performance. As a performer, I have had the opportunity to play at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, the Kimmel Center and I spent one summer performing as a member of the National Reperotry Orchestra in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado. I want students to learn what they're most interested in, with the caveat that I can teacg them a "song" or I can teach them the instrument and they can play any song. Whenever I can I play duets with the students. It makes what they're doing sound more like music. And I make mistakes. That shows that mistakes are no big deal (1 wrong note is a mistake. Make the same mistake repeatedly, you're doing it wrong). Read More

For students, both children and adults, I like to put great emphasis on ear training and improvisation. Although I emphasize ear training and improvisation, I do not neglect sight reading and learning repertoire. I make sure to balance these two as well as make sure the student is practicing songs they enjoy as well! Read More
