Each student is unique. They require their own method and pace of training. My hope is to help the student reach their goals while still enjoying their time practicing for it. The routine that works best for the student will prove itself over time depending on the student. It may be to work one way for one student but not so much for another student. From there, I will formulate a lesson plan that will not only have the student steadily progressing through the lesson material by using instrumental method books that encourage growth at their current skill level, but I will also introduce solo repertoire materials that help the student establish themselves as an individual musical creator and artist! Watchign a student improve right before your eyes is incredibly rewarding, as I have learned from my many years of teaching sailing. I think it is crucial to keep the student engaged so that this improvement remains attainable and consistent. This is accomplished by setting many small goals and by tailoring the lessons to the student's interest. If they enjoy classical rep, we will work on that, but if their favorite band is the Dave Matthews Band, we can also work on playing music in that style and many others like it as well. Read More
