First of all, I always make my students enjoy music when they are learning anything from me. With beginners, I always be patient and kind, especially with young kids. Always singing songs with them, playing together with them and at the same time we will do some music games together. It helps young kids to get to know music and at the same time they won't get bored! Bach was a household icon for my family during my childhood. Every March we hosted Bach Birthday Parties and I was raised with a love of music. Although Id studied piano since age five, at times without much enthusiasm, everything changed when I reached age eleven and met my first cello. From the start, I knew Id found my medium in life. My main foundations for my teaching are rooted in goal setting, collaboration, and engaging music learning. At the beginning of every semester, I like to evaluate the goals from the previous semester, talk about what progress has been made, and what the future goals are. I personally feel that many times students quit because they do not enjoy practicing at home week after week, so for me, collaboration either with students from school, other students in the studio, or in local music schools or orchestras is a must.
