For piano, I typically use Bastien and/ or Hal Leonard. I am very patient, kind, and really good at just listening out for the need of the student and harmonizing with them. I will teach every student differently because each persons needs are different. I started teaching when I was about 15 years old, I lead a dance group and choreographed a 50 min show about african heritage in North and South American cultures. It was a big project and it helped me realize how much I loved teaching. From then on I've taught several subjects from dance, to Spanish and voice lessons. Teaching is something I truly love. I love to see my students progress and succeed in the areas of music they choose. This is why I work hard to look for outlets for my students, if they so wish, to perform. I think that music is healing a way to express yourself and communicate with out ever speaking a word. My approach to teaching is solely based on vocal placement and having a great time. I encourage my students to mimic their favorite artists and or artist that they are not familiar with. This enables the students to loosen the tension in the voice and to get out of their comfort zones.
