I usually begin by working through the Suzuki method books, and then from there try to branch out into other material depending on the student's skill. I'm always open to trying different songs and even encourage my students to find songs that they want to play. I use String Builder, Essential Elements, etudes, technical studies for each instrument and Suzuki Methods for strings and essential elements for clarinet. I emphasize good posture, holding the instrument and bow properly and correct finger placement. Also learning to play scales and music to prepare for auditions and a recital. I also teach students music theory and sight reading and assist with orchestral music. I received my Master’s degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, studying with former LA Philharmonic Principal cellist Peter Stumpf, and my bachelor’s degree at Temple University, studying with cellist Jeffrey Solow. As a chamber musician, I have studied with Menahem Pressler, Mark Kaplan, Jorja Fleezanis, and Kurt Muroki. I work with students of all ages and abilities and can offer adapted lessons to help meet every student's needs. I've previously taught private lessons privately and at School of Rock. I couldn't read music yet, but I would listen to my dad play and just copy him.
