I am a former Suzuki student--I began at age 3.5 with my mom as my teacher--so I believe that Suzuki is an incredible method for teaching young string players. The aural memory I attained by learning this way still continues to benefit me in my career each and every day! I believe in teaching future string musicians there is only one way to make the best sound and teaching how to do this from the beginning. I want the students to understand how their instrument works by demystifying the mechanics. I love cultivating an environment for young ones that both excites them and keeps them learning as much material as possible from the get-go. Young students are incredibly smart and spongey and I love learning from my own students the growth and knowledge that is actually possible to cultivate in young students. Usually in my lessons I like to hear the student play something from start to finish just so I can listen and take in what exactly a student's strengths and weaknesses are. Encouraging strengths, and praising accomplishments, is a great way to help a student to progress.
