Every student is an individual and learns differently, so I strive to develop exercises and practice approaches that work for the particular student I'm working with. I always try to mix compliments and constructive criticism in my teaching. I encourage my students to record themselves throughout the week so that I can give feedback between lessons. I have the most experience teaching beginner students with the Suzuki method. The main focus of Dr. Suzuki’s method is teaching from a place of love and encouragement. I find this method teaches the technical fundamentals of cello playing while keeping the students progressing at rate suitable for their individual needs. I was an Assistant Professor in the National Conservatory of Guatemala for 2 years. I was a teacher from some programs with the State of Guatemala in the country side and the capital city, and a member of the string quartet "Ad-libitum". I have been a classroom teacher (elementary, middle, and high school, in addition to teaching adults computer programming) for the past twelve years.
