Many times students have videoed me playing pieces i teach so they have an example to watch/follow. I use Josephine Trott double stoo books 1 2. I use Yaakov Geringas's "Shifting~Thirty Studies For Young Violinists " .there are a couple scale books i use with my students. I have quite a collection of fiddle tunes, klezmeh tunes, Gypsy music and more i like to mix in with the classical music. As I am certified in Suzuki Book 1, I start students with Suzuki books and methods, while also supplementing with other materials and incorporating any extra music/activities a student might be excited about! With students who have already started, I will often still refer to the Suzuki materials, but I will pull more from other books and repertoire. Teaching should never revolve around the notion that "perfection" is the ultimate" goal. This way of thinking not only provides my students with a false sense of hope, but more importantly is simply unattainable. In the modern age of playing, too often do I feel students losing sight of what is most important: the music. While good intonation and rhythm are certainly important, what I hope to instill in each of my students is a level of understanding far beyond learning the "notes" on the page. Read More

I am a cellist currently living in NYC, and have am experienced in performing, recording, and teaching experience. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2014, where I received my Bachelor's degree in cello performance. There, I studied classical, rock, folk, and improvisation on the cello. I've had the opportunity to play in Boston's Symphony Hall, as well as many other venues in the city. In 2014, I recorded cello for the Documentary Watchers of the Sky, premeired in the Sundance Film Festival, and from July to October, I performed with the Anna Myer Dance Company in New York City and Boston.    From January- March 2016, I was the cello teacher for the Enriching Lives Through Music program in San Rafael, California. I recently began registration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and am in the process of becoming a Suzuki certified teacher for Book 1. I find the Suzuki method extremely helpful for starting young students, however I also like to use other resources such as the Essential Elements book for beginners. I also want to focus heavily on note reading and sight reading at a younger age, so students have a solid foundation if and when they become members of orchestras or other ensembles. Read More
