I know everyone learns at different speeds so making sure they are comfortable yet challenging is important to me.Being able to know when the student is enjoying and not making it a chore is a key to helping and encouraging a student learn. Watching them progress in their insturment is rewarding in of itself and nothing is more satisfying. As the student starts to see him or herself accomplish each lesson I like to praise, push and encourage to keep on. Read More

My approach is "Music as a support for life." We learn beyond the technical foundations but also about the intention of an author-composer in order to give a genuine rendition true to the intended emotion. Each student is treated as a unique individual and are brought to rise to the challenges they gave themselves with my caring passion for the art of music making and my respect for the student. I use All for Strings, Suzuki, Klengel (scales) at the beginning level. I proceed to Concerto repertoire, Popper, Dotzauer etc. The usual classical repertoire. I will also transcribe popular pieces or pieces that the student enjoys to really increase motivation. I also test weekly to inform students of where their practice ability is at and what they need to improve on. I have a very effecient practice style that I have developed on my own and am quite proud of. Teaching is my life and it makes me happy to see students improve. Read More

Practicing everyday is essential, yet I think as long as young kids practice a certain amount of time in total for one day, that would be find. Read More

For beginning students, I like to start with the beginnig Suzuki books, and I incorporate many Suzuki methods into my teaching style. As an accompaniment to Suzuki, I also use Klengal's Technical Studies for the Violoncello, Vol. 1 in order to solidify a solid understanding of scales and hand positions. Once a student demonstrates appropriate dexterity, I begin to introduce solo repetoire that they would like to prepare for studio performances and any other pieces that they have an interest in playing.
