I completed my Master's degree at Tbilisi State Conservatoire under the guidance of Prof. Tamara Gabarashvili (Tchaikovsky competition 5th prize 1966). Since 2004 until 2015 I was a principal cellist of Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theater. Since 2004 I am teaching private cello lessons and also working at music schools and pre-school places, and I am also a member of a string quartet "Iberi." My two rules of teaching are to be encouraging and be engaging. I don't want students dragging their feet as they walk to their lesson. I want them sprinting up the stairs and ringing my bell several times, because they are so excited to get started! My teaching is strongly influenced by the Suzuki method and the teaching methods of Mimi Zweig and Susan Moses. I incorporate Dalcroze Eurhythmics and general music theory and ear training into each lesson. I believe that learning to play an instrument should be fun and enjoyable, while simultaneously stretching a childs musical imagination and growing their cello technique. I began my teaching career back in 2014, teaching cello to children from aged 3 -12. I love the challenge of teaching young students how to focus and concentrate, and I am always in awe of a child's ability to use creative problem solving. Something I like to encourage in my students, regardless of age, is to maintain this child-like state of curiosity and creativity. We adults can learn a lot from our younger counterparts! Read More

I am a former Suzuki student--I began at age 3.5 with my mom as my teacher--so I believe that Suzuki is an incredible method for teaching young string players. The aural memory I attained by learning this way still continues to benefit me in my career each and every day! I obtained my Suzuki Teacher Certification from the School for Strings, NY, with Pamela Devenport, and am happy to teach the Suzuki method only or in combination with traditional methods. Read More
