Whether young or old, I am able to accommodate you with your preference of musical facilities. I cannot stress enough the importance on LOVING what you do and LOVING why you do it- Therefore, I generally communicate between lessons with students to be notified of their progress & educational desires. Through the deep practice I've undergone in Guitar Theory, Ear Training, Improvising, and Articulation (musically)- I strive to provide a balanced and engaging lesson in your string instruments of choice (PSA: I am able to teach Guitar, Cello, Ukulele, Electric Bass, and Music Production). As soon as I graduated high school, I began teaching with my old high school as an assistant. Over the course of time I began progressing in my playing which lead to more teaching positions in various styles and genres of music from Drumline to Jazz. On the performing side, I play those same instruments in a wide range of ensembles. Read More

A student will always learn technique and theory on a much deeper level when it is taught in conjunction to music that they like, rather than as a separate academic study. This is usually best solved by helping a player to re-examine his or her approach to applying what they already know. Read More

It is very important to set a high standard of playing and technique, so that learning is constantly happening. That said, that standard should be approached with compassion and humor, casting the lifelong pursuit of virtuosity an exciting challenge even when it's frustrating. Especially with youth, cultivating a positive attitude and discipline is a key to success. This can be done through musical study. It is important to me to keep the student engaged, and be clear about their motivations for studying: their parents and their own unique drive. Read More

Depending on the students goals, current aptitude, and innate abilities I'll select exercises, etudes, and methodologies from a variety of materials. I work from Hal Leonard's, and Berklee's libraries primarily, but most often use a smattering of tools, exercises, and excerpts that have worked for me and past students; creating a lesson plan over time that is better tailored to the student as an individual. One of the major obstacles when learning the guitar versus, say, the piano, are the immediate physical demands. Read More
