Every student is an individual and learns differently, so I strive to develop exercises and practice approaches that work for the particular student I'm working with. I always try to mix compliments and constructive criticism in my teaching. I encourage my students to record themselves throughout the week so that I can give feedback between lessons. I began teaching cello part time 7 years ago when I was a freshman in college in Cincinnati. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching students from age 4 to 54. With students of all ages, I like to emphasize the importance of consistent practice in order to see improvement in their playing. However, I believe that learning to play the cello should be fun! My goal with all students is that they enjoy learning, become self-motivated to practice, and consider their musical abilities as a gift which they can choose to share with others whenever they feel comfortable to do so. I have experience using a variety of method books and can easily recommend appropriate materials. I was an Assistant Professor in the National Conservatory of Guatemala for 2 years. I was a teacher from some programs with the State of Guatemala in the country side and the capital city, and a member of the string quartet "Ad-libitum". I went to Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic as a teacher in new programs with each country. I gave private lessons for 3 years and I was a part of the academy "New Song" for 1 year. I have taught several students while I was studying music. I won the third place of the Taipei City Competition of Music among many outstanding competitors in 2015. On the other hand, I strived for the chance of participating in many performances. In 2014, I performed Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with the local orchestra in Hualien. In 2017, I played Prokofiev’s Sinfonia-Concertante, Op.125 at my recital at Soochow University, which was praised by my teachers and the audiences. Read More
