When I was twelve, I took on my first student, who was about four years old at the time. Since then, I have taught in a variety of settings, from double teaming pairs of students with my mother to teaching cello, piano, drums, and basic music skills online to students living in Haiti, France, and across the United States! I began teaching cello part time 7 years ago when I was a freshman in college in Cincinnati. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching students from age 4 to 54. With students of all ages, I like to emphasize the importance of consistent practice in order to see improvement in their playing. However, I believe that learning to play the cello should be fun! For beginner students, I start by working through Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book one for cello. After completing this book of fundamentals, I have the student work through Suzuki books 1-5.
