When teaching young children and beginners, I use the Suzuki method. I have been certified in pre-book 1 and book 1 of the Suzuki method by the legendary educator Tanya Carey. For older/more advanced students, I use a series of methods taught to me by the renowned cellist and pedagogue Robert Jesselson, whose teachings have lead me to where I am today, and have produced cellists of the highest quality that can be found among the worlds greatest orchestras and institutions. A passionate and organized educator with a love of the cello and music education. In 2013 I earned a Master of Music from New York University and have been playing in solo shows, ensembles, and recordings since. I've also maintained a growing teaching career by holding adjunct cello appointments at NYU and the Abrons Arts Center. For fun I like to watch indie pop artists at small venues in Brooklyn, improvise music on subway platforms, and take photos of the food I cook. Read More

For beginner students, I use the Essential Elements for strings (books 1 and 2). In conjunction with these books, I select a repertoire that corresponds with their current abilities, and work my way up from there. For adults and more advanced students, I use various technical studies such as Sevcik, Kreutzer, and Rode, and standard Rep using the International editions. Regardless of the age or skill level, I always strive to maintain constant engagement and motivation throughout my lessons, whether online or in person. Read More

I have been playing the cello for forty years and teaching for twenty. I love helping students of all ages realize their goals of playing and performing cello music. Although I do not have an academic background in music, I have studied privately with teachers who have been members of the New York Philharmonic and Juilliard faculty. In addition to playing and performing chamber music for the past thirty years in local venues, I am also a co-founder of the American Chamber Orchestra, a community orchestra that has performed for twenty seasons and toured Europe with performances in many countries. I typically begin a piano student's first lesson, with the Bastien Piano series. This is geared at kid's, but, for adults, I use various other beginner books! In addition to this, I pride myself on teaching all students, how to best play popular music, using a full range of chords, not typically taught. I get students learning quickly and more importantly, correctly, so they are prepared out there, in the real musical world! Read More
