Nothing makes me happier than seeing students come back the next week excited and confident about what their learning and the time they put into their practice. I Encourage all students to set realistic goals and aim to create an environment that inspires motivation and interest where it can be found. Learning to play music should never feel like a Job and I will always be here to adapt to any teaching style a student may need to succeed. Read More

I am a younger instructor who is very excited and passionate about the inter- and intra-personal aspects of music and teaching music. First discovering my love of performing and problem solving through chamber music, I have since received a dual degree from UMass Amherst in Music and Social ThoughtPolitical Economy, and I am now pursuing my Masters of Music in Cello Performance at Boston University. One of my biggest challenges and fascinations with music has been how to balance efficiency and honesty with kindness and graciousness in working with others and myself, and it's something I love to explore with my students. I have over 15 years experience teaching privately as well as teaching band and orchestra in public schools. At one time I taught thirty-eight, half hour band and orchestra sessions every week. This included private Jazz ensembles and orchestra—all at the Elementary level. I taught 4th and 5th grade band and orchestra for the San Ramon Valley School District for 5 years as well as after-school ensembles for 9-11 year olds. Read More

I emphasize ergonomic/body comfort in playing the cello. Comfort is most important before being able to progress and reach technical heights. There is no formula for any single student to make progress. I work with students to discover their goals on the cello, and to help them expand as instrumentalists, musicians and human beings. Musically, I focus heavily on music theory which I will explain as necessary. I place importance on theory because it allows an understanding of musical patterns that can be easily applied on the cello. Read More

I am a motivated and open minded musican who takes joy in learning from others. Having recently graduated from the Boston Conservatory this past May, I have taken part in a number of various ensmebles. While my focus was in performance, in recent years I have taken a greater interest in teaching. With both a liberal arts as well as conservatory background, I have had the opportunity to dabble in both worlds. Read More

All students are encouraged to find level-appropriate pieces (that don't have to be classical!) they wish to play, and I will do my best to help them achieve their request and can provide suggestions as well. I try to incorporate songs and tunes outside of the classical genre into my assignments to keep students' practice sessions fun, and for students interested in learning non-classical cello, we can work together to create a curriculum that fits your needs. I have a deep and passionate love for all things music, whether it's teaching, performing, writing, or listening, and I love being able to share that with my students. I did my undergrad program at UMass Lowell and have achieved my Bachelors degree in Music Studies. I currently still attend the University, where I am striving to get my Masters degree in Music Teaching. Outside of school I enjoy writing and recording my own music, and I occasionally play live shows when I can. Read More
