Progress is not always easy when learning to play a new instrument. Everyone learns at there own pace, and with each lessons I will set attainable goals for the student. it is best when students have varying difficulties of material within their material in order to provide opportunity for satisfaction despite whatever struggles they may have. I encourage daily practice, even if only for small amounts of time. I typically use a style of traditional classical instruction. Including scales, studies, and repertoire. I teach sight reading and ear training. I use memorization, and critical listening skills. My style is fun, joking around, but firm and serious.  I expect that my students be prepared for every lesson, but to also have fun at the same time.  I don't want to be stogy, or boring.  So I like to see my students smiling and laughing, but learning and enjoying their instruments.  The more the undesrtand their instruments and laugh the more they will enjoy playing that will lead to more technical advances.
