I have over 15 years experience teaching privately as well as teaching band and orchestra in public schools. At one time I taught thirty-eight, half hour band and orchestra sessions every week. My teaching experience began after I received Master of Music Education degree. I taught numerous students since then. I have exceptional experience in teaching little children learning their first instruments to upper grade students who are serious about studying music in college. Some of my students continued to study cello and became professional players themselves. For the beginner students I emphasize mastering the basics, so that they can have the good foundation to grow on. Read More

I believe patience and versatility are very important, as each student learns a different way. I set goals for each lesson and try to guide the student during the lesson into achieving them. Sometimes the goals are achieved during the lesson, and sometimes while practicing on hteir own time. I don't believe in achieving "perfection", but rather developing a solid understanding and connection with the piece, which is accomplished through putting in hard work and effort. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with teaching basic music theory, scales, and start with John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course for the piano students. For Cello beginning students, it's very important to have a correct playing position. Therefore, we will spend some time on knowing cello, position for both hands, and then we will start with Suzuki. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More

Through my time working with students I have found that it is very important to get to know them on a more personal level, i.e. music they like, their interests, their hobbies etc, and that way I can tailor my lesson plans to them as individuals and make them feel as comfotable as possible. I've learned a lot from my experiences in and out of the classroom, and I use my knowledge to the best of my ability in every lesson. Read More
