As an avid chamber musician and collaborator, I have enjoyed playing and performing in a variety of chamber ensembles for 12 years, and I have been awarded scholarships to attend chamber music festivals such as the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Summit Music Festival. Currently, I am completing my Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance with Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, and I am actively teaching and performing around the Greater Boston area. For beginning students, my main goal is to lead them to appreciate and love music for the rest of their lives. I work on fundamentals like the proper posture, developing good ears for correct tones, and how to correctly hold the bow. A perfect understanding of basics goes a long way. I am a younger instructor who is very excited and passionate about the inter- and intra-personal aspects of music and teaching music. First discovering my love of performing and problem solving through chamber music, I have since received a dual degree from UMass Amherst in Music and Social ThoughtPolitical Economy, and I am now pursuing my Masters of Music in Cello Performance at Boston University. I recently began registration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and am in the process of becoming a Suzuki certified teacher for Book 1. I find the Suzuki method extremely helpful for starting young students, however I also like to use other resources such as the Essential Elements book for beginners. I also want to focus heavily on note reading and sight reading at a younger age, so students have a solid foundation if and when they become members of orchestras or other ensembles. Read More
