I have previously taught at the Saturday Conservatory of Music in San Gabriel, Suzanne Middle School in Walnut, IvyCrest Montessori in Fullerton, and Music & Arts in San Dimas and Mission Viejo. I have also held masterclasses in percussion and drums throughout Orange and Los Angeles County. As a teacher I can help you grow your abilities on your instrument. Help you achieve the cool warm sound you want from the saxophone. Help you get the dexterity on the instrument you need. And get a more broad understanding of how music is played and created. Throughout my career since I was 16 years old I have taught children, teenagers and adults from beginners to advanced levels. I hold a Masters degree in jazz, composition and teaching from The Rhytmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and have also taught several courses there and at other distinguished music conservatories. I started playing guitar in 2000 and began teaching people my freshman year (2003)for extra money while earning my Bachelors in Marketing from the University of Southern Indiana. I have been giving lessons ever since then. I have an extreme passion for playing and try to encourage my students to find the same passion. When teaching I mix the lesson with the basics and theory while incorporating the music styles of their favorite players and bands. Read More

For young children I usually use the Suzuki method books for song selection and through those we can focus on the basic fundamentals of positioning and technical development. It is easy to see what needs to be addressed through those first few songs and we can go from there. For older children and adults we can select from a wider variety with input from the student and we can work on whatever technical issues arise based on the level of the student. Read More

It's important to get them comfortable with playing loud and clear, sometimes the drums are a bit intimidating with their massive volume. (Unless you're on an e-kit). Next, as with any good drummer is establishing a comfortable sense of rhythm and time. Read More

When studying with me, students can expect a comfortable and fun atmosphere that promotes experimentation and positive reinforcement. Employing a curriculum that is equal parts formal technique and informal playing of the students favorite music, I make every lesson engaging and exciting. After 3 to 6 months, beginners should expect to be able to play many of their favorite songs, have a firm grasp on basic scales, chords, theory and sight reading, and can even begin writing their own songs and improvising solos! I strongly believe that a well-rounded music education helps a player to become a more confident, musical, and an emotionallyyaware musician. As such, I like to give my students small assignments focused on topics besides just performance, such as Music Theory and Aural Skills exercises. Of course, I will always move at the pace the student needs but I also know (from personal experience) that a nudge in the right direction can be priceless. Read More
