I like to let a student learn at his/her own pace, as long as they are focused and putting in the effort. If somebody is a complete beginner, we'll likely begin by learning about basic elements of music (pitch, rhythm) as well as basics of the instrument (tuning, right hand/left hand placement and technique). If the student has some experience with the instrument already, we can talk about what music they are interested in and what they hope to gain from taking lessons. Read More

Teaching people to be musicians is probably the best thing I can think of doing as a career in my life, other than of course performing live and playing with bands and making music. Playing music for charity and benefits is something I also do. Read More

When I was a kid I've never had a mentor presence in my learning experience and when I grew up and had the chance to study at Berklee I realize that good teachers let you understand that all of us are great musicians. I believe if you want to be a great musician you have to be a great teacher first. Be a teacher an important role that we need in our society and Love to be part of that role. Read More

For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. Sure, it's a cliche, but it's true: everybody's different. Music lessons are a unique opportunity to learn in whatever fashion works best for the individual, and there is nothing I love more than finding out exactly how the student learns best. After all, it's not about me or how I like to teach. It's about them. Read More

I have taught students of different ages while focusing on different styles with the goal of always trying to make the student happy by enabling them to learn the music that THEY want to learn. I know that the fundamental part of learning is to be passionate and to like the subject, every style can gift you different abilities and knowledges that can all translate into the same elemental thing which is music.
