Teaching started in my college years, taking up opportunities to teach family and friends for fun. Ironically, my first student happened to be my dad. The experience was so uplifting to him that he began to seek oppotunitites to perform occasionally at his church! That moment was a huge factor in wanting to pursue private instruction. It's worth teaching because you can inspire any and everybody to learn and play music. Read More

I'm a very laid back teacher and I do my absolute best in making my students feel comfortable and also have fun while in the process of learning the art of music. I will give the students the tools they need to learn their instrument or instruments. I expect them to use the tools that were taught and practice at least thirty minutes per day and at least five days per week. Read More

I am an experienced and enthusiastic music instructor who recently relocated to Philadelphia. I am a Loyola University New Orleans graduate and have been teaching drum and guitar lessons in the Providence, Rhode Island area since I graduated in 2016. In Connecticut, where I grew up, I studied under Tom Briggs, the drummer for the United States Coast Guard Band. At Loyola, I studied under Wayne Maureau, one of the top drummers in the New Orleans area. Read More

I have published my own series of method books to cover a wide range student needs. In addition, I often create materials depending on the student's interests. For more formal styles, I will use traditional methods created by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, Frederick Noad etc.. My philosophy of teaching is that lesson materials must match the students interests and ability. Methods and materials must be carefully chosen or created to move them to the next level of playing, without frustration or boredom. Read More

Through years of experience, I've found the perfect balance of technique and fun! I like to start with a focus on building the proper foundation and the proper relationship. It's important to me that we set achievable goals and make sure we are on a path to learning songs that keep you inspired and motivated. Each student will have different goals, and while there may be an overall structure of what we should know within a certain amount of time, no two lessons are ever the same. Read More

For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well.
