When I was 15 years old I began teaching to a few kids I knew from high school on guitar. I also began teaching my friend Max Kroll's little brother who was only in 3rd grade at the time. I continued teaching on and off for money and just for friends who wanted to learn throughout the last ten years. I believe like anything else teaching music lessons is about networking and keeping a positive reputation so students will refer me other students. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons since 2006, and have been fortunate to gain experience with all age groups and skill levels. Coming from a unique combination of genres, I am able to bring the complete spectrum of music into my playing and teaching. My experience with improvisation and learning by ear enables me to take a more intuitive and sensitive approach to classical notated music, and my experience with classical music gives me a complete understanding of the theory and harmony that crosses over into non-classical genres. Very individualized instruction. The focus of the lessons depends on the student. The goal is to use the guitar or bass as a vehicle of self expression. Bringing creativity, in the form of writing or improvising, to the lessons enriches the experience of playing any music. I believe in music as an aural language. I believe there is equal benefit in transcribing recorded music as from reading from the printed page. Read More

I am a music instructor, and professional guitarist/perfomer/songwriter based out of New Jersey. I have been teaching professionally since 2006. My goal is to teach to the students needs, and allow them to get whatever they hope to get out of music, be it competence on an instrument, performing, improvisation, reading music, understanding theory...whatever their journey entails. I also put together performance opportunities for my students twice a year. Read More

I consider my teaching style to be comprised of two major components - physical and mental. The physical component includes things like picking, strumming, finger strength, finger dexterity, and left hand/right hand coordination. For this, I provide a variety of exercises which do not necessarily require musical knowledge. These can be taught at any time, but are especially valuable early in a student's learning path. They are also effective warm-up exercises before practice and before performances. Read More

I began teaching as soon as I felt I had a comfortable grasp on my instrument(s) as a teenager in high school. While in college I briefly stopped teaching but resumed before graduating, and have been teaching in home lessons again since completion. For new students, nothing will help you progress as a musician more than consistent practice; there is no shortcut. But with that consistent practice will come a sense of pride and motivation at what has been accomplished and the desire to continue. Read More

My method varies depending on the student. If the student wants a traditional musical approach, and is interested in learning notation and theory, then we will usually start with the Hal Leonard Book Series. If the student doesn’t want to learn notes or the more advanced musical concepts, I usually just start by teaching them simple songs that they know from the radio, TV Shows or movies. Something to get them really excited about learning and practicing, and songs that they recognize and can show others. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
