I aim to equip each and every one of my students with a level of musical understanding that will reward them with their own respect and passion for music. I believe that self-confidence and setting goals is important for development and so I encourage my students to embrace their own musical ideas while adjusting my teaching methods to each of them. I teach to give my students a great sense of self-confidence and to provide them with an understanding of musical expression so that they may unlock their full potentials. Read More

The theoretical and technical rigor of formal education allowed me to harness my self-taught musicality while preserving the trademark kinks in his imagination and playing style. After running around like headless chicken (studying, creating, teaching, performing, leading/organizing social music events, jamming with every living thing), I broke my childhood promise and decided to make music professionally. But I had begun teaching professionally far before my artistic aspirations caught up. Read More

My teaching experience starts with me giving my friends private lesson at home. For the past 6 years I have taught a combination of instruments and styles. For two of those years, I had the privilege of instructing at a renowned private music school. My journey has been dedicated to nurturing the musical talents of students while fostering a love and appreciation for music. My time at the private music school was transformative, allowing me to tailor lessons to suit individual learning styles. Read More

Beginning bass players will start with The Simandl Method regardless if Electric or Double Bass. This book has been the standard for decades and continues to help players find the foundation for their playing. As the student progresses we will start to add appropriate pieces for them to learn and perform. Electric players and Upright players can start choosing songs or pieces they want to learn. We will work with that so they feel they are accomplishing goals they want to accomplish and learning pieces they want to learn. Read More

I have been studying and playing music since I was 7. I began on saxophone in my school's concert band and jazz band proceded by my own musical endeavors on electric bass playing rock and jazz music. I spent high school gigging Philadelphia with The Paisley Haze Quintet. In my undergrad studies at University of Vermont, I picked up the upright bass, studying both jazz and classical styles. I became heavily active in the Burlington, VT music scene performing with such groups as: The Object Three, Nuevos Comediantes, Divine Lorraine, Anna Pardenik and the Holy Smoke-Off, Brass Balagan, Duke Aeroplane and the Wrong Numbers, and Grup Anwar. I began teaching five years ago around the age of twenty. Now, at twenty-five, I have had the opportunity to teach people from all walks of life, with ages ranging from 6 to 60! I encourage students to practice "perfect practice", which means they are as relaxed as possible when practicing (mentally and physically). Daily practice is also something I cannot emphasize enough, even if only for five or ten minutes a day. Read More
