I believe that all of us are musical, even if some have more innate talent than others. Curiosity, patience and dedication, addition to good references, are key aspects that translate into growth and achievement of goals for all of us. In class, I try to work within the dreams and motivations of each student, approaching repertoires that translate the students' interests in the best possible way. I always try to work on the theoretical/formal part in conjunction with the development, above all, of the ear and ear training. Read More

Most of all the rescources I use for my students can be found for free online. The most important things for any classical guitarist are: Mauro Giuliani’s right hand arpeggio studies, Matteo Carcassi’s Etudes, Fernando Sor’s etudes among exercises I’ve learned and created personally. Other great rescources are Scott Tennant’s Book “Pumping Nylon” and Pepe Romero’s book “La Guitarra”, which are about $20 a book. Read More

I started teaching in my early 20's and have taught for over 20 years. Nothing beats seeing a student's reaction when they've learned something and can successfully implement it. It brings me a lot of joy! I also encourage and emphasize that my students get into or start bands to practice what they've learned to really see how jamming works. Jamming with musicians is another great teacher as well because you'll immediately learn where your weak spots are and how you can improve upon that..... Read More

I started teaching guitar and bass in 2001. I started teaching ukulele in 2013. Over the years, I have taught professionally at schools, park districts and music stores- in most cases becoming the top teacher (meaning, I was the most requested and had the best enrollment longevity). When I realized my ability to teach and how perfect it felt for me, I never looked back. In 2006, I opened a music venue/recording studio that was open to all ages- closing 9 years later in 2015. I'm a freelance musician with over six years of teaching experience. A singer/songwriter from New York, I graduated from Vassar College in 2020 with a degree in music, and moved to New Orleans to pursue a career in music education. In my time at Vassar, I was selected to join the school's Jazz Band as the sole bassist my Freshman year, I played bass in the orchestra where I spent time as the principal bassist, and led a small Jazz combo as well. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
