I have been teaching professionally since 2010. I have worked for various music schools and have given lessons privately. I have experience in band coaching and teaching song writing and recording. I teach lessons out of my own recording studio, and I am comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels. I consider myself to be great with beginners because I focus a lot on technique and how to make a clear clean sound on the instrument which is usually the first barrier a new student encounters. Jason is an acclaimed professional guitarist, singer and songwriter who also teaches privately in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. Jason was a student of famed NYC guitarist and current Berklee school of music professor, Dave "Fuze" Fiuczynski, after first beginning his own guitar playing journey as a 10-year-old conservatory student on the south shore of Long Island. In addition to writing and performing full time, Jason has been teaching professionally for over 10 years and, in that time, has maintained a consistent student base of 25-30 students at a time, guys and girls, men and women, ranging in ages from 10 to 75. I do not subscribe to a specific style of/approach to teaching. I try to ascertain what a student hopes to accomplish when possible and plot a path toward achieving that end. The goal is to make and share music. To that end, it is fair to say that some aspects of musicianship cannot be ignored. Development of technique, the ear rhythm would of the most primary importance. My style/approach to an individual will reflect my interpretation of what best suits their personality with an emphasis on the creative aspects of the art. Read More

If, for example, you already know how to play the piano, but you want to be better at it, I will help you and teach you what ever I feel can help you become an even better pianist. Read More

As soon as I graduated high school, I began teaching with my old high school as an assistant. Over the course of time I began progressing in my playing which lead to more teaching positions in various styles and genres of music from Drumline to Jazz. Educating and passing along concepts is one of the most important roles as a musician. The goal is to give your students enough tools to surpass you as a mentor. Read More

I began teaching Private Lessons when I was 17 to elementry school age students and fell in love with it immediatley, I love sharing with others and figuring out how to make the impossible possible. Music can seem mysterious or daunting at first, but my job is to break it down in a methodical way to help my students digest a song/topic and reveal the way a "mystery" functions. Since highschool I've always had a handful of students that I've worked with weekly in my private studio. Read More

I use what some have called the target approach. With this method you are working on one concept at a time, and you should always have one concept in mind while you practice. Some examples of beginning concepts are 1) keeping a steady beat, 2) sound quality, or 3) smooth finger technique. In one practice session using the target approach you may spend 10 minutes on target 1) and 15 minutes on target 2). What is important, however, is that you continue to work on a target every day until you find yourself performing that single concept flawlessly and effortlessly. Read More
