I tend to use standard materials, especially for beginning players. But I will also mix in exercises and techniques tailored specifically to the students needs. It is good to learn from books, but also important to vet information that is not necessarily needed or already soundly in their techniques. Every musician is unique and they have their own way about learning and progressing. For more advanced students, learning as much repertoire as possible will be stressed. Read More

I have been teaching not only music but other subjects such as computer science, mathematics, English, and social studies since I was in high school. I have served as a teaching assistant through graduate school and have taught in both private and classroom settings. I am comfortable with all ages. My goal is to balance a musical education with other elements such as self-confidence, focus, concentration, and of course fun! Read More

As I mention in the paragraph before, my approach to teaching is based on the value of Your personal, unique voice. My main goal as instructor is way more important than teach you the usual, obsolete repertoire that most of the teacher use since the beginning of times, it is instead working on making the student a unique, unparalleled music individual, through the stimulation of improvisation, instinct, composition and having a great time jamming. Because of the nature of the bass in musical settings, my approach to teaching is one I consider "wholistic". That means that in conjunction with developing fundamental technique and building repertoire etc., lessons will involve listening to songs and discusing elements such as groove and instrumental tone. I believe that the study of music should be fun. Because of this, I like to get a feel of what music my students enjoy no matter the age or skill level, that way I can custom fit the material of an individual's lesson to get the best results. I'm a aspiring musician and educator living in the north Orange County area, in sunny California. I started playing music fairly late, at the age of 21. I took jazz lessons at my local community college. I eventually took up the double bass as well, and improved my skills enough to be in the jazz ensembles at my community college. I just recently completed my transfer requirements and I will be attending Cal State Fullerton in the coming fall semester, majoring in Music Performance. Read More

My approach to music lessons is to customize and graft them to the student. I approach all of my private lessons as music lessons, not just guitar, saxophone, theory, composition, or piano lessons. Throughout my career, I have consistently found value in being a well-rounded, knowledgeable musician, strong in a variety of skills, instruments, and genres. This is not to say that I do not strive for mastery, and encourage my students to do the same. Read More

My aim is to motivate, inspire, challenge and empower you to become the best version of yourself. I firmly believe that the best way to get the best out of the lessons is to communicate and be open to listening to what each other have to say. More importantly, I feel its the responsibility of the instructor to listen to the student, their goals, needs, dreams and help them get there through whichever method necessary. Read More
