It is very reward to see the passion of a student committed to learn. The process of learning is unique to each student and so everyone learns at their own pace. As teacher I am aware of this and I adapt my lessons accordingly. I am a very patient person and understanding person. My priority is that each student understands the material. This means that communication is key. Back an forths and questions are always well come. Read More

For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. For intermediate to advanced students I recommend books like "Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony" by Bert Ligon, "Fingerboard Harmony for Bass" by Gary Willis, "Funk Bass Fills" by Anthony Vitti, "The Latin Bass Book" by Oscar Stagnaro and "The Essential Jaco Pastorius" by Jaco Pastorius. I really take a look at what the student needs to learn and what the student wants to learn because I've seen a lot of students giving up because the institution or teacher is giving to much theory and very poor practice. I try to balance those responsibilities to a point that the student will always be learning something new as long as I work on their motivation and consistency of keeping up so they can learn how to play anything they like and want. My methodology is based mostly on understanding the practice and applying the theory to it, to know where what you do comes from. but above all enjoy and fall in love with your instrument because that is what pushes you to continue learning. The music is not explained or shown in words, so it is unnecessary to write as much as they demand, people just want to play and they just need someone to teach them how to do it... Music in the school system is taught backwards. If you're a beginner, you were put in a beginning class. this makes it very difficult for students to advance quickly because they aren't playing music with people who are more advanced than them. I make sure the students have the ability to play the instrument before they learn a ton of theory, because knowing how the wrritten form of music work without being able to play them is recipe for frustration. With almost 20 years of music education experience, I have developed a super fun and effective teaching method that has proven to work. I am a kid at heart and love working with children. And as the oldest child of 6, I possess the necessary patience and enthusiasm for their learning development. In addition, I have worked with many adult students who initially thought it was "too late" for them to learn an instrument. Read More

My teaching style is a blend of structure, creativity, and student-centered guidance. I believe that great teaching begins with connectionunderstanding who the student is, what inspires them, and how they learn best. Whether Im teaching a child just discovering rhythm or a teenager preparing for performance or recording, I strive to create a learning environment that is both challenging and encouraging. Each lesson is goal-oriented but never rigid. I use clear objectives to track progress while remaining flexible enough to adapt to the students pace, curiosity, and energy. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
