I have 15 years of experience teaching private, one-on-one lessons and 25 years of experience as a guitar player. In addition to teaching private lessons, I was a faculty member at Allegro Musique, I.C.M and Melocad/Universal Music in Paris France from May 2009-Jan 2014 where I taught guitar electric and acoustic, as well as band classes. I'm a firm believer that things like "theory" will be appreciated over time and when students have come to actually realize its importance and significance once they have reached a certain skill level. Finally, It's also important for me to know my students music tastes and influences in order to carefully lay out a lesson plan in the hopes of getting them to where they want to be in the most efficient way. For beginners, I always start with technique. The bass guitar is a very physically demanding instrument and without the proper technique, students can injure themselves and prevent musical expression. After fundamental hand technique is in place, I use a hybrid curriculum that my teacher walked me through mixed with my own theories that have worked for me and from the Musicians Institute basic theory book. Once both physical technique and basic theory is in place, the groundwork to explore is set and i can help the student achieve their goals of learning songs, training their ear, or simply being able to play along to records. For me seeing one of my students develop a passion for music is such areward! It is very important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I am constantly encouraging students to practice as slow as they need to. This eables students to have realistic goals each week that can be attained. It is important to take the time to acknowledge students and their accomplishments. This helps keep the learning fun and energetic. Read More

I typically start off by assessing if the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced. Once the student's skill level has been assessed, a lesson plan will be formulated to best fit their needs. However, for students around beginner level, there is certain mandatory curriculum I teach in order for the student to have a solid fundamental understanding both on the instrument and for music in general. We will mostly focus on technique and theory, performance, as well as more creative and abstract musical aspects. Read More

I am a very easy going, passionate and patient human being. I think discipline is game changer, but also understanding at the same time. Balance in between a good practice schedule and our will to actually seat and practice is a good key for someone at the beginning of her/his journey. For intermediate up to advanced levels discipline is not anymore a possible issue, so I directly work on the developing of their personal style, since in many cases is already flourishing to some degrees at those levels. I try to get to know the students as best as I can. I will ask them about their interests in music and outside of music. I also will learn what their weaknesses and strengths are and push them to improve all around. I have a pretty laid back style of teaching. My goal to encourage them, rather than make them feel bad or frustrated. I will simply tell them if they are sounding good, or I will tell them what they can do to sound better. Read More
