Originally from Boston, I moved to NYC in the summer of 2011 to pursue teaching and playing music professionally. After learning about their hopes and goals, I start teaching from a technical perspective to help them get a handle on their instruments. From there I discuss practice techniques, music and guides to listen to, and start teaching them songs and repertoire they are passionate about. If you are beginner student is a different intensity and difficulty than for a intermediate or advance student, but the approach is the same. I don't care about the lesson in itself, but I care that the student create his/her own musical path. I put a lot of passion in my teaching and I work for the student outside the lesson as well; making specific backing track and exercise for the specific student or helping him/her out for get in a band or to auditioning for music schools. I have been playing music for over 15 years and have earned two degrees in music (University of Colorado, Manhattan School of Music). Some of my teachers include the world class Orin O'Brien and Tim Cobb from the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Orchestra. In my undergrad I was a finalist for the annual concerto competition and have I performed internationally in Canada as well as Japan.
