The most satisfying moment as a teacher is when a student finally "gets it", and for students, I find that lessons are the most fun when the student feels capable and not overwhelmed. I like to challenge my students and encourage them to exceed even their own expectations of their abilities. I use a combination of sight singing, ear training, and standard theory. While there are many proven methods, every student is different. Learning abilities, comprehensive understanding, and prior knowledge can play a part in the methods that are used. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I'm a passionate musician, music therapist, teacher, and songwriter, and have dedicated my life to improving myself and others through music. In 2022, I graduated from Seattle University with a B.A. in Music (with a specialization in cello performance) and a B.A. in Psychology. I hold a masters degree in vocal performance from Boston University. My recent professional debut was with The Ohio Light Opera, where I was a young artist. I have received prior training from summer training programs programs such as the Seagle Music Colony, where I spent two summers preparing and performing operatic and musical theatre repertoire.
