Overview:

I hold a masters degree in vocal performance from Boston University. My recent professional debut was with The Ohio Light Opera, where I was a young artist. I have received prior training from summer training programs programs such as the Seagle Music Colony, where I spent two summers preparing and performing operatic and musical theatre repertoire. I am equally comfortable performing and teaching musical theatre, contemporary and operatic styles and my notable theatre roles include Joseph in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" Cinderella's Prince in "Cinderella", Candide in "Candide" and the Phantom in "The Phantom of the Opera". I have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Opera America, and the Palace in Boston. I look forward to continuing to develop my career as an aspiring artist and teacher.

EXPERIENCE

I have been offering private voice lessons to students of all skill-sets for a number of years. I believe that it is important to stress that I too, am learning and that the voice is an instrument that continues to grow and develop with the body. I have been studying voice for over ten years, and I am still discovering. Most of my experience with the voice has been through performance. Therefore, i consider myself to be an artist-teacher. I have a passion for performing and teaching and I find joy in sharing my love for music and singing.

METHODS USED

My own vocal-study is rooted from the pedagogical line of Manuel Garcia. I believe that the young voice must be given time to develop. I build an awareness of the body's physiological role in healthy-singing; breath is the key to phonation (singing). Once the fundamentals are grasped, I spend time teaching musicianship. By gaining a deeper understanding of musicianship, we become well-rounded musicians and therefore, better singers. I hand-select music for each student in hopes that they would be interested in performing for their friends and family.

LESSON STYLE

I provide private voice instruction to students of an appropriate age. I advocate for using the entire body when singing to establish the body's natural way to singing. It is paramount that students are given ample time to acquaint themselves with the voice that is naturally theirs. My pedagogical approach encompasses technical foundation and healthy, FUN, age appropriate repertoire. My style is based on my knowledge of the voice and it's functions. However, I tailor my approach to accommodate the needs of each student.

Tim is a fantastic voice teacher. His understanding of how the entire body contributes to successful singing is outstanding. To that end, he always knew what vocal exercises to assign me so that I could learn how to utilize more of my body to improve my singing technique. He is also extremely encouraging and supportive of his students, and his bright personality is such a blessing to all who have the privilege of knowing him.
