"Live" practice would be an ideal way to describe how I teach. I never encourage too much of one practice or rote memorization. The mind consolidates information more quickly and makes many more neural connections through variety and "new stimuli." Many practices in our culture can be boring and lack efficiency because they lack these basic principles. As educators, we really need to turn that "dead" practice into "live" practice. Read More

I began teaching privately in Beaumont, Tx while pursuing my undergraduate at Lamar University from 2009 to 2015. I ended up working adjunct in my Masters degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2015 to 2018. While working for UNLV I also acquired a job teaching for Tailor Robinson Music Company. During my nine years of teaching, I have taught a multitude of ages, experience levels and different genres. I focus on getting the students to understand that there is a method to the voice like any other sport or trade, its the motivation that determines whether you have the patience and focus to achieve your goal. Being firmly rooted in my personal practice and purpose helps students find theirs as well. Read More

Although I started out on the piano at eight, I switched to tenor sax at the age of 13 on the advice of my doctor, who suggested that playing this horn would help cure me of asthma. I later studied sax with Gerry Bergonzi. As a teenager, I sneaked into such noted New York City jazz emporiums as Birdland and the Five Spot to hear the Jazz Messengers, Gerry Mulligan, Thelonious Monk, and other reigning jazz masters of the times.
